The farm operates an integrated model that combines dairy production, animal nutrition, pasture and crop management, and animal health, ensuring optimal animal performance and year-round feed availability.

Responsibilties
General Farm Management:
- Provide day-to-day management and supervision of all farm operations.
- Develop and implement annual farm work plans, production targets, and budgets.
- Supervise farm staff and ensure effective task allocation, discipline, and capacity building.
- Ensure compliance with farm policies, biosecurity protocols, and safety standards.
Animal Nutrition and Feeding Management:
- Design and implement balanced feeding programmes for different classes of dairy animals.
- Oversee feed formulation, feed procurement, storage, and feeding schedules.
- Monitor feed intake, feed efficiency, and body condition of animals.
- Collaborate with nutritionists and consultants to improve ration quality and reduce feed costs.
Animal Health and Welfare:
- Implement preventive animal health programmes including vaccination, deworming, and biosecurity.
- Monitor herd health and promptly address disease outbreaks and production disorders.
- Maintain accurate animal health and treatment records.
- Ensure high standards of animal welfare in housing, handling, and management.
Pasture and Crop Management:
- Plan, establish, and manage pastures for sustainable forage production.
- Supervise crop production activities including land preparation, planting, fertilization, and harvesting.
- Ensure efficient utilization of pasture, silage, hay, and crop residues.
- Coordinate feed conservation activities such as silage and hay making.
Dairy Production and Milk Quality:
- Oversee milking operations and ensure adherence to hygiene and quality standards.
- Monitor milk yield, milk quality parameters, and production efficiency.
- Ensure proper maintenance and use of milking equipment.
- Implement practices that enhance milk safety and reduce losses.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records on animal performance, feed usage, health, reproduction, and milk production.
- Prepare regular technical and operational reports for management.
- Use farm data to support decision-making and performance improvement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Proven experience in animal nutrition, animal health management, pasture and crop management, and dairy production.
- At least 5 years practical experience in managing a dairy or integrated livestock farm.
- Strong understanding of dairy herd management and feed systems.
- Ability to manage people, resources, and farm infrastructure effectively.
- Ability to drive is an added advantage.
