Job Summary
- The Survey Assistant will be responsible for executing all surveying activities on the highway construction project, including verification surveys, setting-out, and geometric control.
- The role supports accurate implementation of design coordinates, levels, and alignments using advanced surveying equipment and software. The Survey Assistant must ensure all survey works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all project surveying activities, including verification surveys, setting-out, and geometric control.
- Establish, maintain, and verify horizontal and vertical control points for highway works.
- Conduct alignment, profile, and cross-section surveys in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure accurate transfer of design data from drawings to site execution.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment including DGPS, Total Stations, and GNSS systems.
- Ensure proper calibration and accuracy checks of all survey instruments.
- Collect, process, and store survey data in line with project procedures.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software for data processing, plotting, and preparation of survey drawings.
- Prepare survey records, field notes, and as-built data for verification and approvals.
- Support preparation of measurement data for quantities, progress assessments, and claims.
- Verify construction works against approved alignment, levels, and geometric design.
- Identify and promptly report discrepancies or deviations to the Chief Surveyor or Resident Engineer.
- Ensure survey activities comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and contractual requirements.
- Work closely with engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to support accurate execution of works.
- Provide continuous surveying support during construction activities.
- Assist during inspections, audits, and project handover processes.
- Comply with site health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Ensure surveying activities are conducted safely within active work zones and traffic corridors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- SURCON Licensed (Mandatory).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in highway construction surveying.
- Proven experience on major road or highway projects.
- Strong working knowledge of highway geometry and construction tolerances.
- High level of proficiency with DGPS, Total Stations, and GNSS equipment.
