Job Summary

  • The Inventory / Store Officer will be responsible for overseeing all inventory and store-related activities within the retail gadget business.
  • This role ensures accurate stock records, proper storage and handling of electronic gadgets and accessories, and the smooth movement of goods from delivery through to sales.
  • The position also plays a critical role in minimizing stock loss, shortages, and damage while supporting efficient store operations.

Responsibilties
Inventory & Stock Management:

  • Receive and check all incoming gadgets and supplies to ensure they match the delivery notes and purchase orders.
  • Properly record all stock received, issued, or moved using manual records or digital systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory records reflecting stock receipts, sales, transfers, and returns.
  • Monitor stock levels and promptly report low stock, excess stock, or obsolete items.
  • Track fast-moving and slow-moving products to support restocking and sales planning.
  • Establish reorder points and recommend optimal stock levels based on sales trends and demand patterns.

Storage & Store Organization:

  • Ensure all gadgets, accessories and electronics are properly labeled, coded, and stored according to company standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Organize the store/warehouse layout to optimize space and allow easy identification and retrieval of items.
  • Ensure proper handling, stacking, and preservation of electronic products to prevent damage, deterioration, or loss.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe store environment in compliance with health and safety standards.

Stock Control & Loss Prevention:

  • Conduct regular stock counts, reconciliations, and periodic inventory audits.
  • Investigate and report inventory discrepancies, damages, or losses.
  • Implement controls to prevent theft, damage, or misplacement of stock.
  • Ensure all store and inventory transactions are properly documented and filed for audit and traceability purposes.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure product availability and smooth sales fulfillment.
  • Prepare simple inventory and stock movement reports for management review.
  • Provide timely updates on inventory status, shortages, and operational challenges.

Education and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a storekeeper or inventory officer, preferably in retail environment.
  • Ability to use inventory software and MS excel.
  • Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy items where required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Previous experience in inventory management, storekeeping, warehouse operations, or retail (preferably in gadgets/electronics).
  • Basic knowledge of inventory tracking systems, POS systems, or spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of inventory responsibilities.
