Job Summary
- The Local Cook will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of a wide variety of Nigerian dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, quality, and hygiene standards.
- The role requires a skilled and experienced cook with at least 5 years’ hands-on experience in Nigerian cuisine and strong knowledge of food handling and safety practices.
- The Local Cook will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to support daily restaurant operations and event catering.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of Nigerian dishes (soups, stews, swallows, rice dishes, grills, and local delicacies).
- Ensure food is prepared according to approved recipes and standards.
- Maintain consistency in portion size, taste, and presentation.
- Support food preparation for restaurant service, events, and special functions.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Practice proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as a Local Cook or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian cuisine and traditional cooking methods.
- Practical knowledge of food handling, hygiene, and safety practices.
- Formal culinary training or food safety certification is an added advantage.
- Experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment is preferred.
