Role Description
- This is a full-time, on-site role for a Project Engineer located in Lagos. The Project Engineer will oversee project planning, coordination, and execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and timelines. Responsibilities include creating detailed project plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective communication, and maintaining safety and quality standards in all engineering operations. The role also involves troubleshooting technical challenges and carrying out routine progress reporting.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Project Engineering and Project Planning
- Practical experience in oil and gas projects (onshore or offshore)
- Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles and applications
- Excellent Communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects and meet deadlines within a structured environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline. A master's degree is a plus.
- Membership of COREN will also be an advantage
- 4 - 6 years relevant experience with at least three years in a project management environment in the oil and gas sector
- Understands and adheres to all policies, procedures, and guidelines on safety, health, environmental, and quality assurance, emphasizing this perspective in their own work and in the work of others
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the planning, development, design, and execution of oil and gas projects to ensure delivery within approved scope, cost, and schedule, in line with project specifications, standards, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate and monitor engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities to ensure quality, safety, and timely project delivery.
- Prepare, review, and manage project schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring accurate and timely project reporting.
- Implement and enforce strong change management controls, including evaluating, negotiating, and documenting changes with internal and external stakeholders in accordance with established procedures.
- Supervise procurement activities, including preparation of technical scopes, review of vendor bids, and recommendation of awards to clients or management.
- Track and manage the performance of engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks, and facilitate safety, constructability, and technical reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and progress meetings to monitor execution and resolve technical or commercial issues impacting project objectives.
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices across all project activities.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports, technical updates, and cost/schedule reports to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external partners, including maintenance, operations, inspectors, engineers, designers, document control, procurement, logistics, construction, project controls, finance, and senior management.
- Liaise with the corporate office (Houston, Texas) through continuous oral communication and periodic written reports on project performance and key issues.
- Support project commissioning, testing, documentation, and handover activities.
- Travel to national and international locations as required for project execution, business development, and other corporate engagements.
